Residency Habit’Art:La Spanda

Set in a rural context, the 3C Habit’Art residency focused on the local landscape and winemaking. Working with wine residue (from non-mechanical methods of making wine) wine was used to make anthotypes with during community workshops and also for developing site specific work.
The drought, vine yards, mountains and myths shaped art research during the residency. In particular a hill named after a legendary woman:' La col de la dona' who legend has it ran away to live on her own, escaping her violent husband. This formed part of the research leading to a collection of images, re-imagining her escape and her re-connection with the landscape and her body. These feature in the 'Le souffle du paysage' exhibition in Perpignan:

Art research during the residency
Drawing with burnt trees found in burnt forest near Calce
Dried clay made with body, gouache and wine, wild rocket ink- growing between the vines, drawings and burnt wood
Installation, video made working with the body, drawing, material and a small building on vine yard, to re-imagine water and human-non human relationships in the dry landscape.
